Do you know a child who should be honored as “Military Child of the Year”? USBA encourages you to nominate a deserving child from now through December 15, 2012.
This special award—sponsored by Operation Homefront—is presented annually to an outstanding child from each branch of the service – Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Five winners each receive $5,000, a laptop computer, plus a trip with a parent or guardian to Washington, D.C., for a special recognition ceremony on April 11, 2013.
Successful candidates exhibit resilience, strength of character, and thrive in the face of the challenges of military life. These young heroes embody leadership within their families and communities.
“It’s not just the military members who serve our country, but their families as well. We think these young patriots who live with uncertainty and challenges unique to military children deserve to be honored for their sacrifice and their leadership,” said Jim Knotts, President and CEO of Operation Homefront.
Nominating a deserving child in your family or community is easy. Do it here. You can also become a sponsor and find photos from past awards ceremonies.
