With the start of the new year, many military families with high school seniors will be adding “college” to their 2014 budgets. If you’re a USBA member and your college-bound student needs financial assistance, have him/her apply for The William A. Dietrich Memorial Scholarship.

Offered by USBA Services, Inc., this $2,000 non-renewable award is given to deserving scholarship winner(s) each year. The money may be used for tuition, room and/or board at the recipient’s discretion. The 2014 application is now available to download. Deadline to apply is March 31, 2014.

Now in its 24th year, the Dietrich Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of former USBA Executive Director and President, the late Maj Gen William A. Dietrich, USAF (Ret.). It is awarded annually to at least one graduating high school senior who is a child or grandchild of a USBA member in good standing on active duty, retired or separated from the military service, any branch.

2013 recipients were Andrew Chico, son of Christian Chico, veteran of the United States Marine Corps and USBA member since 1988; and Tyrha Delger, daughter of Cory Delger, Lieutenant in the United States Army and USBA member since 1997.
