Transitioning? Active duty service members get extension to access MilConnect

Good news for transitioning TRICARE sponsors, their spouses, and dependent children 18 years and older. A recent initiative gives separating service members and their families more time to access important personal information as they deal with the details and changes of moving into civilian life.

This 6-month extension provides longer access to health care enrollments, eligibility and other personal information available through MilConnect. MilConnect is the online resource provided by the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC). Read more about it.

And just a reminder, there is no extension being given for when your SGLI runs out. It still ends 120 days after you separate from military service. This means you could end up without life insurance. With the new year ahead, now’s a good time to make sure there’s no gap in your family’s life protection as you move from military to civilian life.
