Our
Employees
USBA employees include retired military members with backgrounds
in many of the armed services as well as veterans and qualified
non-military people. A large number of employees enroll in continuing
education courses relating to life insurance each year, and USBA
has twice received awards for educational excellence from LOMA (the
Life Office Management Association) for high performance on course
examinations.
Our
History
USBA was founded in 1959 to meet the needs of Active Duty military
personnel, who at that time had difficulty finding adequate life
insurance coverage that would cover combat-related deaths. USBA
was one of the first companies to do away with the so-called "war
clause" in all of its coverage.
Our
Community
Every fall, we conduct a corporate fund-raising drive on behalf
of the Heart of America United Way. USBA has been taking part in
United Way Campaigns since 1965. In 1999, employees contributed
a total of $18,030.
USBA
employees champion the causes of many other local charities throughout
the year as well. Some recent campaigns have been for causes such
as the March of Dimes, AIDS, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society,
and Bowling for Rhinos (a fundraiser for the Kansas City Zoo). Employees
have supported Diabetes Walks, Cancer Awareness, and adopt-a-family
programs, and we also send cards to soldiers who may be lonely during
the Holidays.
Our
Life Insurance Coverage
All USBA-sponsored Group Life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment
and Hospital Indemnity Insurance plans are underwritten by New York
