Resources to help veterans address transition-related issues

Returning to civilian life presents both new opportunities and new challenges. The following resources are available to help transitioning service members, veterans and their families deal with challenges such as post-deployment adjustment, feeling on edge, relationship problems, post-traumatic stress, depression, and other mental health concerns.

Moving Forward
Moving Forward teaches problem-solving skills that help transitioning military better handle stressful challenges. This life-coaching program is available online for free from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Real Warriors
The Real Warriors Campaign shares the stories of service members with invisible wounds. It also offers resources for those needing help coping with psychological health concerns and traumatic brain injuries. It’s provided by the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury.

This wellness resource helps service members and their families make the transition to civilian life and overcome common work adjustment problems after deployment. 

inTransition
inTransition is a voluntary program providing mental health care support to service members and veterans as they move between health care systems or providers. inTransition is for those returning from deployment; transitioning to or from active duty; separating from the military or temporarily relocating; wounded and transitioning back home following care at military treatment facilities, VA facilities, or Warrior Transition Units; and those changing health care systems or providers due to a permanent change of station.
