If you have a high school senior at home, it is time to start thinking about college in the fall – and how you will pay for it. The cost of higher education remains a significant financial challenge for families, many of whom often underestimate the price of tuition.
According to US News & World Report, the average annual cost of tuition and fees at a ranked public college for the 2023-24 school year rose to $10,662 (up 2%) for in-state attendees and $23,630 (up 1.4%) for out-of-state students. Ranked private colleges saw a 4% increase, with an average tuition of $42,162.
The William A. Dietrich Memorial Scholarship Fund
One way to help cover college expenses is scholarships. For more than 30 years, USBA has proudly awarded the Dietrich Scholarship to deserving students. This scholarship provides a $2,000 non-renewable grant. Recipients can use the funds for tuition, room and board, or other college-related expenses. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, leadership accomplishments, and participation in community activities.
USBA offers Members the exclusive opportunity to apply for the William A. Dietrich Memorial Scholarship. It honors former USBA President, the late Major General William A. Dietrich, USAF (Ret.), and is awarded annually to at least one graduating high school senior who is a child or grandchild of a USBA Member.
